I saw the upcoming Miramax Holiday entry Everybody’s Fine and came away liking it but thinking the trailer is not quite honest portraying the “comedy” of this dysfunctional family. The whole cast gives great understated performances but nobody is better than De Niro. Too bad this is the sort of subtle acting that is usually overlooked by the Academy.
Case in point when De Niro starred in Awakenings he got the nomination for the showier role while Robin Williams, perfect as his doctor, got completely ignored.

The Movie opens in Puerto Rico Decemeber 10.

With all the big Holiday Movies (Avatar I’m talking about you!) this movie, which has an excellent cast headlined by Robert De Niro and rounded out by Sam Rockwell, Drew Barrymore and sexiest woman alive Kate Beckinsale. The trailer makes it look pretty generic, but with that cast it’s worth hoping for a better movie.
